I am a mental health professional with over 30 years of experience in this field. I hold a professional qualification and remain registered to practice.
During my career I have worked in almost every mental health setting including intensive care units, acute mental health units, a therapeutic community and working within a variety of community settings.
I am not qualified or certified as a counsellor, or as a specific therapist however the majority of work that I have done has been on a one-to-one basis with clients with often very complex mental health issues. The work I have done has frequently been with people with much more complex needs than most professionals are likely to encounter.
I have always worked with clients on a holistic basis and use an eclectic range of skills, drawing from a knowledge base from counselling to psychotherapy to transactional analysis, where I will use the modus that is appropriate to any given situation rather than being fixed on one specific type of approach. I have found this to be both person centred, and effective.
You will not be working with someone who has learnt some basic skills, and has a lot of book knowledge. What I bring to the table is a raft of knowledge, skills and experience which can be adapted to help most people.
And I am still learning, and will never stop doing so.
It is entirely up to you to judge whether I have the knowledge or skills to work effectively, but there is only one way to do this. Have a conversation with me, and take it from there.
