I am feeling suicidal and people struggle to speak to me because of this. Would this be a problem for you.

Not at all. Throughout my career the majority of people I have worked with have felt or expressed suicidal thoughts and ideas at some point, and this is a very common experience of people with mental health issues.

I'm also aware that it can be a Catch-22, particularly when engaging with professionals or support services where the presence or absence of suicidal thoughts may have a significant impact on the kind of support you are able to access.

The one thing that I would emphasise is that I cannot be seen as  a protective Factor with any kind of expectation that I will take action to protect you by contacting other services, dealing with other agencies etc.

If you are feeling actively suicidal then I would strongly suggest that you are also engaging with and receiving support from your GP, mental health services in your area, and any other support services that are available to you, in part because of the degree of separation between us.

Here is a list of services that are available

Emergency: 112 or 999

Non-emergency: 111, Option 2

The answer to this is no....

  • I find it very overwhelming whenever I talk about the issues in my life. It can be emotionally distressing and I feel very vulnerable and fragile at the time. Can you assure me that you will be gentle and responsive and not just keep trying to tell me what to do as most people have in the past. -

  • I'm having difficulties with getting services from my GP, mental health services etc. would you be prepared to write a report on my behalf or intercede on my behalf -

    Yes

    Actually this is one of...

    That is absolutely fine...

    No….because as you...
